Testimony of Adriana Barón on her immigration process

Emigrating to Canada is one of the best decisions you can make in life when it comes to making important changes and leaving your comfort zone. Leaving the country of origin and starting from scratch in a new one, far from family and friends, is an act of self-improvement and courage, because nothing is written from the beginning, each migrant writes his or her own story as he or she goes through it. 

As a member of Immiland's education department and as a resident alien in Canada, I know what it means for an international student to pull together and initiate such a complex and meticulous immigration process; many times you don't know where to start, who to turn to for informed advice, let alone where to find a trained and legally authorized expert to successfully process a visa or permit.

Hello, my name is Adriana Baron, I am Colombian and I firmly believe that my story is a demonstration that dreams come true, but only when you have enough determination to fight for them, when you plan what you have to do and when you surround yourself with people who know the way to achieve them.

My dream of migrating to Canada began in May 2021, motivated by the need to provide a more promising future for my 14 year old daughter. The truth is that I did not know where to start, but I was very clear that I had to do it, so I started looking for information on the internet and that's how I found some videos on YouTube of the Canadian company Immiland, where its CEO, Eddy Ramirez, appeared, providing information that in my opinion was quite complete and clear on different immigration issues related to Canada, so I decided to continue watching their content and follow their Instagram account.

To be honest, I think that coming to Immiland's YouTube channel and Instagram was what marked the beginning of my dream of living in Canada. From everything I had read and heard from Eddy Ramirez, who in addition to being CEO of Immiland is a certified immigration consultant, member of the ICCRC (Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council) and Canadian lawyer, I knew that I had to take it step by step, and so I did.

First, I was encouraged to schedule an immigration appointment with Andy Rodriguez (CICC regulated consultant).. Knowing that my case was in the hands of a consultant certified by the Canadian government gave me a lot of security. So I continued to make inquiries about my requirements and I connected with Immiland's educational area, whose services are oriented to offer everything you need to know to study at a university or college and be a professional in Canada.

My questions and concerns were addressed in a prompt and timely manner by Angy Diaz (Director of Immiland's Education Department, certified member of the Canada Course for Education Agent [CCEA] and accredited with the Certified Career Strategist [CCS]).. Ultimately, the result of these consultations was the clearing of my initial question on how to start materializing the dream.

Following the Immiland team's recommendations, I started planning and executing the small but important steps I needed to take, such as, for example, submitting the language test, having sufficient savings, collecting supporting documents, traveling abroad, among others.

With my mind more and more clear on what I should do, in January 2022, I applied to a certificate of collegiate studies (AEC) program at the Trebas Institute in Montreal and was admitted to start in September of that same year. As my process progressed, the director Angy Diaz kept answering my questions about the explanation of motives, how to continue with the logical thread of studies in Canada, the importance of the post-graduation permit to work, etc. 

With my doubts clarified and when I felt that everything was much more on track, I then decided that it would be best to have Immiland handle my visa and study permit application process. This decision was the best I could have made since I started my travel project, because Immiland's professionalism and experience were strengths that contributed to the success of my application.

Everything I have told you above is only the first step of an immigration path, the truth is that there are more things to consider once the visa is approved; you also have to know how to get residency in Canada, what kind of jobs you can and should do, how to bring family members, for example. In my particular case, at all times I preferred to go the safe way and be accompanied by Immiland. 

In fact, their team of consultants and advisors helped me with other processes, such as the PGWP, my dad's tourist visa and a new Québec Certificate of Acceptance (CAQ) for the studies of my daughter, who has already graduated from high school and will start the Cegep.
