Mobilité Francophone helps you find a job in Canada!
May 08, 2024Written by Yvanna Sol
The Mobilité Francophone Program is a Canadian government initiative to encourage French-speaking immigration and increase the presence of French speakers in the country. Through this program, it seeks to attract people who are fluent in French and wish to work in Canada.
In this Planeta Immiland article, we provide details about the Mobilité Francophone migration route, how to qualify and how the applicant can get a job in Canada. Let's start by defining Mobilité Francophone!
What is Mobilité Francophone?
Mobilité Francophone is a migration plan that allows Canadian employers to hire French-speaking or bilingual foreign workers to fill jobs in areas such as management, technical or trade professions, and skilled trades. Unlike other programs, employers using Mobilité Francophone are not required to go through the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) process when hiring these workers. Remember that the LMIA is a mandatory requirement for companies and consists of conducting an assessment of the labor market in the region to demonstrate that the vacant job could not be filled by a native or Canadian citizen, so foreign labor is required.
What are Mobilité Francophone's requirements?
To be eligible for Mobilité Francophone, the foreigner must meet the following requirements:
- Have a level of French CLB 5, which implies that the applicant is able to communicate conversationally in French, both in comprehension and oral expression.
- To have an offer of employment, the Canadian employer must make you a job offer, which must be related to a job listed in the National Occupational Classification of Occupations (NOC), except for jobs in primary agriculture.
- Have significant work experience in the occupation for which employment is offered.
- Being outside the province of Quebec, this program does not apply to this province.
Why is it so important to speak French in the Canadian workplace?
In this multicultural and economically prosperous country, it is logical to think that the knowledge of its own work idiosyncrasy and the command of its language are fundamental for its inhabitants in general, and even more so for its workforce, to communicate well among themselves and with the rest of the countries they want to reach with their respective industries. For this reason, many companies value the ability to interact in both official languages of the country (French and English).
As we have reiterated in other posts in our blog, Canada takes very much into account the mastery of its two languages, and preserves French as part of its culture, style and tradition, this makes the work between employers and employees more flexible and manageable; moreover, during job interviews, demonstrating skills in French can make a difference and increase your chances of getting a job.
How does it apply to Mobilité Francophone?
If you meet the requirements, then follow the steps below to obtain a work permit through Mobilité Francophone:
- Get a job offer, to do so, the employer must submit a job offer on the IRCC Employer Portal using LMIA exemption code C16.
- Make the work permit application, for this step, your employer must provide the job offer number and the signed contract to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). How to increase your chances of getting a job offer for the Mobilité Francophone program?
In our language school, Planeta Immiland, we offer a course designed to prepare the student interested in this program to obtain the minimum level required, which is CLB 5. This offer comes with an Add-On that will help you increase your chances of obtaining the desired job offer.
With this course, you will learn exactly the type of French needed for this program, as well as the skills to participate in discussions, understand and provide simple instructions, express opinions on current issues, read and write simple texts, including informal e-mails and service notes.
Although the required level is CLB 5, at Immiland we always recommend aiming for higher levels in the language, as this increases the possibility of being considered for other immigration plans, such as Express Entry and the French language category, for example.
We hope you find this information useful and do not miss this golden opportunity to improve your job prospects and permanent residency in this prosperous and welcoming country.
