Need to speak English quickly to study abroad? You're in the right place!

Learning a new language is always a challenge, but it is also an incredible opportunity for personal, academic and professional growth, and with the right strategies you can do it quickly, efficiently and effectively.

In that sense, there are things to do and things not to do! What are they? Read with me this topic of our blog and make the most of this guide dedicated to students who need to learn English in record time. Let's get started!

What to do vs. what not to do to learn English fast

Learning a new language in a short period of time to enter university requires dedication and effective strategies, as well as knowing that there are things to do to maximize your learning and things to avoid. Let's see what they are!

  • Classroom participation:
    • What to do: Engage in all class activities, ask questions and participate in discussions.
    • What not to do: always stay quiet in the classroom - remember that interaction is key to improving your language skills!

  • Practice of what has been learned:
    • What to do: spend time every day practicing what you learn, whether through conversation, language apps or reading.
      • What not to do: leave all learning to the classroom. Constant practice is essential inside the classroom, but outside the classroom as well.

  • Immersion in Anglo-Saxon culture:
    • What to do: watch movies, listen to music and read books in English. This will help you become familiar with the language in real contexts.
    • What not to do: limit yourself only to academic materials. Exposure to English-speaking culture should be understood in terms of enrichment for learning.

  • Creation of a study routine:
    • What to do: set specific times to study and review. Daily review enhances learning and is part of consistency and building good study habits.
    • What not to do: frequently interrupt study schedules - breaking with routine can slow down your progress!

Is there an ideal program to learn English fast and study abroad?

The answer is yes. It all depends on the country you choose. Here is an option available for Canada: it is our Planeta Immiland academy. This is the first immigration-focused language school for Canada and offers specific programs that bring you up to the level required by universities. Students taking our courses can learn English and/or French for personal purposes as well, but if they wish to enter a Canadian institution, the accelerated programs are ideal.

Our programs are designed to be intensive and effective, with classes running Monday through Thursday, each lasting 3 hours. This accelerated format allows each level to be completed in just 6 weeks, which means that the student can move quickly towards their academic and immigration goals.

Is three hours a day enough?

At Planeta Immiland, we opt for 3-hour sessions because they offer a perfect balance between depth of content, academic scope and concentration. This time is sufficient to cover a variety of topics and language skills, covering grammar, vocabulary, conversational practice and listening comprehension, all in a well-structured and dynamic environment.

What are the available schedules and levels?

As it is natural to understand, every student has different needs and schedules, so Planeta Immiland offers various schedules that can be adapted to your routine (morning, afternoon and evening). Regardless of your current level of English, we have an accelerated program course that will work for you. Take the free placement test to find out which course is right for you.
