Signs and costumes in stores and boutiques you'll see in Quebec during Halloween

During the last few days of October, in the fascinating city of Quebec, everyday life starts to feel as if we've stepped into a Halloween movie.
The first thing that catches your eye in the store windows are signs with the names of cute and mysterious costumes, ranging from chauve-souris (bats) to little princesses or fée (fairies).
But the most fun and colorful part happens right at sunset, when the charming groups of adventurous children in costumes appear, striding purposefully along the brick sidewalks, ready for the classic mission of “des bonbons ou un sort” (trick-or-treat).
Today we want to enjoy the childlike charm of the French language through a list of signs and costume names seen in shop windows and on the sidewalks of this beautiful Canadian city:

A perfect opportunity to discover how your favorite book series are written in another language is to stop and look at the display cases.Â
If you're a fan of mystery and horror stories, stop and take a look at the display cases featuring cult classic series and signs dedicated to Chucky (the Bloody Doll / the bloody doll), the sinister figure of La Nonne (The Nun / The Nun), the legendary villain Freddy Krueger, or creatures from folklore such as Le Comte Dracula and Le loup-garou or L'homme-garou (The Werewolf).
And if you're a fan of adventure and animation, you can expand your vocabulary with the store windows at Hogwarts (Hogwarts, from the Harry Potter), characters from animated films such as the Minions, Paw Patrol (Paw Patrol) and Frozen (Frozen).
This is one of the most effective ways to adapt your language to everyday life in Quebec.
From the store to homeÂ
As night falls, the street is transformed: the houses light up, the trees shed their last autumn leaves, and classic pumpkins glow in the driveways (Halloween pumpkins) shine in the driveways.
You can really feel the festive atmosphere of the All Saints' Eves (All Saints' Eve) as the group of children walks along the sidewalk:
- On the left (On the left): A cute bat (bat) carries its bucket with enthusiasm.
- Next to (Beside her): A little witch (little witch) wearing a tall hat leads the group.
- In the center (In the center): A green dinosaur walks along, excited about his treats.
- And on the right (And on the right): A fairy (fairy) with pink wings rounds out this group of costumes.
It's a simple scene that captures the essence of fall and the magic of community life in Canada.
