French speakers with CLB 7 level invited to permanent residence

What is Express Entry and why does it offer a category for French?

The Express Entry is Canada's immigration application management system for skilled workers. It operates on a point system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), where factors such as age, education, work experience and, most importantly, language proficiency are evaluated.

The Canadian government is committed to inviting to permanent residence through Express Entry people who speak French and who can help strengthen French-speaking communities in different provinces, except Quebec. Therefore, fluency in this language is a prerequisite and, moreover, a great advantage that gives you additional points to make you eligible for specific Express Entry draws, i.e. you get straight to Canada with permanent residency!

What requirements did the 2,500 French-speakers invited to the lottery meet?

Thanks to the advanced intermediate French level CLB 7the 2,500 candidates invited for permanent residency in this third August lottery achieved a minimum score of 481 in the Comprehensive Classification System (CRS), which serves as a tool for evaluating each applicant's score.

The French Proficiency category is a clear example of how this language raised to CLB 7 level can make the difference between qualifying or not for Canada's fast-track entry system.

What is CLB 7 and why does Canada require it?

To demonstrate your language proficiency, Canada uses the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) scale. Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB). This is not a test, but a grading system that assesses skills in the four key areas of language: listening, speaking, reading and writing..

The CLB has 12 levels that measure English language proficiency, and for many immigration programs, including Express Entry, a minimum level is required, such as the CLB 7which demonstrates that a person can communicate effectively and functionally.

However, for the French French languagelanguage, there is an equivalent scale (to the CLB) and unified. It is the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC). Although they have a different name, the NCLC are the French adaptation of the same 12-level standard as the CLB. Both scales are used identically to assess a candidate's skills in the four areas.

In the immigration programs, the Government of Canada uses the term CLB/NCLC to ensure that the language level reference is clear and consistent in either English or French. In other words, they are the same tool, simply expressed in the language being assessed.

Learn about the French-speakers who can apply under this category.

The language proficiency category is highly inclusive. It includes all professions and citizenshipswithout special privileges. No profession is more important than any other. Any eligible person, even if they have never studied, worked or lived in Canada, can apply. It is a direct path to permanent residence for eligible persons who speak French at CLB 7 level, even if they are outside the country.
